Scope:
  • TP QA QC Services for buildings works including Bungalows for Ministers & Judges & Senior Officials, APCRDA Project office (G+1), Additional 6 floors with Precast Structural elements over APCRDA Project Office, Judicial Complex in G+2 Building, Judicial Complex (Phase-2) works, AGC Infrastructure works including Artificial water body, GAD Tower (G+49), Tower No. 1, 2, 3, 4, corresponding amenity areas & High Court building.
  • TP QA QC Services for Site development works which includes Roads, Bridges, SWD, Water Supply, Sewage Network, STP, Power Ducts, ICT Ducts, RE-USE.
Innovation & Technology:
  • Formats for reporting of TP QA QC issues have been developed and standardised.
  • Due to large scale of the Project, an inhouse App – Q SCAN has been developed for real time reporting of Non Conformities. The App has a capability of recording observations with photos, videos, documents, audio and location details and generate reports. The NCs can be classified priority wise and real time notifications can be generated. This has significantly impacted the quality of works on site.

  • Constructed Wetland Water Treatment systems are planned for the treatment of Grey and Black Water.
  • Phyto-stabilization of Pond Bunds using Vetiver and Jute Mat are planned instead of Concrete slab lining making it greener, eco-friendly and to arrest the soil erosion.

Third Party Quality Assurance (TPQA) Service for Various Construction Works at Permanent Campus of Indian Institute of Technology, Jammu.

Indian Institute of Technology Jammu is being set up at Jagti, Nagrota, Jammu, has already set up its Phase 1A campus located in 25 Acres of land which is part of main campus to be set up in 409 Acres of land in Phases.

Phase 1B & 1C construction works for Transit housing and Hotel Extension costing around Rs 45 Cr have been awarded and work in progress. Hence, IIT Jammu wishes to have high quality of workmanship and finishes in Phases 1B and 1C. So, IIT Jammu empanelled CUBE for undertaking Third Party Quality Assurance (TPQA) for above works.

Scope:
  • To monitor that construction is carried out as per the drawing specifications, processes, sequencing, material and system integrity, performance and constructional integrity and quality control measures as mentioned at all stages of construction.
  • To inspect the site, generate reports and highlight areas of concern w.r.t quality of materials, workmanship, and finishing at all stages of construction
  • To achieve best quality and execution of work within prescribed time schedule.

Central Public Works Department, CPWD (Government of India) is the executing the Construction of JIPMER New Campus at Karaikal, Pondicherry (Union Territory). Karaikal Central Division, CPWD had requested IIT Madras to take up the TP QA & QC works at JIPMER New Campus at Karaikal and IIT Madras has consented to extend the service through CUBE. CPWD has subsequently signed an MoA with CUBE to start the work in the month of August 2019.

Scope:
  • To provide Third Party Quality Assurance and Quality Control Service for the Construction of JIPMER Karaikal New Campus for a period of 12 months.
  • Audit the above project on all aspects of engineering related to QA/QC.
  • Report findings to CPWD Periodically and review the findings of previous visit concurrently.

Development of Comprehensive Water Security Plan and Rejuvenation of Water Bodies for 25 SIPCOT Industrial Parks

State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) was established in the year 1971 to develop industrial growth in Tamil Nadu. Due to deficit in monsoon 2018 and 2019, SIPCOT is facing severe water shortage problem across all industrial parks. Accordingly, CUBE - Centre for Urbanisation, Buildings & Environment has been given an opportunity to carry out a Comprehensive study and provide Concept Project Report and Detailed Project Report to ensure ‘Water Security Plan’ for 25 industrial parks.

Scope:
  • The Water Security Plan [WSP] is drawn to mitigate the gap of Demand vs Supply considering the projected increase in demand till 2030, with the priority of Wastewater Reuse and Rainwater Harvesting and exploiting Groundwater extraction and Desalination in case of inescapable conditions.
  • Preparation of Detailed Project Report [DPR] incorporating complete Water Resource Management Model for 25 SIPCOT Industrial Parks, including the Wastewater Reuse, Rainwater and Storm Water Management, Water Bodies Rejuvenation and Design and Engineering in terms of infrastructure creation/ enhancement and its commercial implications.
Innovation & Technology:
  • In order to arrive at implementable and sustainable WSP, CUBE intends to collect needed information from all stakeholders in the Park through a secured Web application and providing details through a self-explanatory and interactive questionnaire.
  • Topography Survey is carried out with help of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle for preparation of land use and land cover map, development of DEM, DSM and DTM.
  • CUBE will also carry out extensive field studies, including Bathymetry Survey for analysing the water bodies, Hydrogeology Survey and Geotechnical Survey for studying about the sub-surface soil conditions.

Distress - Mapping & Analysis of Heritage Buildings – Nellaiappar Temple, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu

Owing to the significance of Nellaiappar Temple and its cultural impact on the city of Tirunelveli and subsequently entire state of Tamil Nadu and India, it is noteworthy not only for its aesthetic, technological and architectural values but also historical, cultural, religious and social values. The Temple is spread in 14 acres and has two main shrines, one dedicated to Lord Shiva as Nellaiappar and other to his consort Goddess Parvati as Kanthimathi Amman.

In cognizance of the value attributes of the Complex and taking into account its current condition due to rapidly changing urban dynamics, site hydrology, wear & tear as well as exposure to natural elements combined with inadequate maintenance provisions and certain incompatible interventions that have resulted in deterioration it is deemed necessary to take corrective and remedial actions. Consequently, Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department has initiated measures to prepare a Comprehensive Conservation Plan for the Temple Complex. Phase I comprises of preparation of Inception Report, mapping the present distresses in the Temple Complex and their probable causes.

Scope:
  • Analysis of site surrounds, land use and urban development and its correlation to the temple structure and hydrology. Qualitative assessment of relationship of distresses with the surrounding urban dynamics.

Comprehensive Conservation Plan for Arulmigu Kasi Vishwanathar Temple, Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu

Arulmigu Kasi Vishwanathar Temple at Tenkasi is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is constructed in Dravidian style of architecture. It is said to have been built in the 13th century by ruler Parakkirama Pandian with some later additions from the Nayaks of Madurai. The town of Tenkasi developed around this temple. Chennai Urban Horticulture Initiative

CUBE has instituted Chennai Resilience Centre as one of its division fostered by the Atlantic Council of the United States, Inc., on behalf of its program Adrienne Arsht – Rockefeller Foundation Resilience Center [AARFRC]. CRC aims to provide resilience solutions to the people of Chennai through phased implementation of the Chennai Resilience Strategy and by creating awareness on current urbanization challenges and to recover from shocks and stresses for a more resilient Chennai.

Scope:

Utilizing 1000s of acres of rooftops to scale-up vegetable gardening through a citywide strategy involving stakeholders such as Tamil Nadu State Horticulture Department, Chennai Corporation Schools operated and maintained by the Greater Chennai Corporation [GCC], Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women, Self Help Groups, Residential Welfare Associations [RWAs] and other beneficiaries, in order to reduce heat exposure and temperature leading to co-benefits of increasing green cover, conserving water, reducing waste, promoting health and nutrition, generating livelihoods and building resilience.

  • Encouraging students in Corporation Schools to take up vegetable gardening and rooftop farming in order to promote a value-based education and supplement the Govt. of Tamil Nadu’s Nutritious Meal Program.
  • Supporting livelihood generation and skills development of vulnerable groups, particularly through the social empowerment of women.
  • Conducting training and awareness programs to educate citizens on the benefits of Urban Horticulture and associated practices such as composting, waste segregation, rainwater harvesting and encourage citizen participation in building Roof Top Vegetable Gardens in their premises.

  • Approach to tackle multiple solutions – urban heat, storm water management, food security, biodiversity, livelihood generation, waste segregation, promotion of urban horticulture among Chennai citizens through the CUHI.
