APCRDA has appointed CUBE as a Third Party Quality Assurance Service Provider for Building Works.

A Platform for Integrated Urban Governance in Metropolitan Chennai: Developing Resilience Scenarios and Strategies through Simulation and Gaming

2015 floods in Chennai raised concerns amongst policy makers, businesses, and civil society to rethink the City’s strategy for addressing water-related vulnerabilities while supporting developmental needs. Combining comprehensive scientific research on land-use planning, water, and waste management practices, and participatory workshops, gathering insights from relevant stakeholders across public, private, and civic sector, this project has built future scenarios to assess Chennai’s flood/drought and other water-related vulnerabilities.

Scope:
  • Five policy-oriented thematic reports have been prepared:
    • a. Chennai: Urban Visions – a report on the city’s socio-economic drivers of development.
    • b. Chennai: State of Water – a report on the current state of water and associated risks
    • c. Chennai: Emerging tensions – a report on governance challenges at the intersection of urban development and water resilience.
    • d. Building an Integrated Governance Platform – drawing on grounded experience, a report on challenges and good practices around data collection, workshop facilitation, and project design to facilitate replication of similar scenario-based integrated governance platforms.
    • e. Shaping Public, Private, and Community Actions for Transformative Change – a comprehensive, grounded, tactical strategic blueprint to guide, public, private, and civil society actions to transform the system.
  • An agent-based model to help assess implications of specific land, water, waste related decision on Chennai Metropolitan Area’s water vulnerability scenario has been developed.

Madurai - Aruppukottai - Thoothukudi Section of NH – 38 (Old No. - NH-45B) road stretch is highly important as it connects the major port – ‘Thoothukudi’ located in the southern part of India with rest of India, while Madurai - Kanyakumari Section of NH-44 (Old No. - NH-7) road stretch connects Kanyakumari – major tourism centre located in the southern part of India with rest of India. NHAI has nominated CUBE to assess the residual life of the payment and submission of payment design reports and other mitigation measures for these stretches.

Preparation of Schedule of Rates for Modern Construction Technologies

Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board (TNSCB) is interested in developing its projects with Modern Rapid Construction Technologies. However, owing to non-availability of relevant specifications and Schedule of Rate in TN Public Works Department (PWD) Schedule of Rates (SoR) specifically for Monolithic Construction Technology using Aluminium Formwork and Precast Concrete Technology, this is challenging. In this regard, TNSCB has taken the initiative by appointing CUBE to prepare a draft Schedule of Rates, which will allow them to implement in their projects and standardize the same.

Preliminary Concept Report for Conservation of Naida Caves, Diu

Naida caves at Diu are complex limestone formations evolving from natural geological processes as well as limestone quarrying. The result, however, is an amazing network of caves with interesting and breathtaking spaces and stunning interplay of light and shadow. The caves, over a period of time, due to combined effect of weather, and unguided and uncontrolled growth of vegetation, water seepage and accumulation and untreated structural faults, have deteriorated and degenerated. In order to develop them as a world class heritage and eco sensitive tourism destination, efforts to conserve the caves, impose certain development restrictions on the immediate adjoining areas and development of a comprehensive development plan for the site is a must, Administration of Diu invited CUBE to prepare a preliminary assessment report for the Project.
